Current research
My research examines neuro-anatomical, neuro-pharmacological, molecular and genetic pathology in limbic brain structures in subjects dying by suicide and with psychiatric illnesses such as major depressive disorder, alcohol dependence, and schizophrenia. The subjects were collected over the past 30 years and are well-characterized regarding mental illnesses, medications and postmortem toxicology. Techniques used include 3-dimensional stereological cell counting, immunohistochemistry, laser capture microdissection, and next generation sequencing.
